Training on Advocacy Mobilizing and Planning

There is little cooperation & partnership among government, private, and CSO actors with a focus on Local Economic Development (LED) in Cambodia. The government issued Prakas 06 on Public Consultations on Policy and Law Development Process on 5 October 2018 that formally provides for a public consultation process at the national level. However, there is no systematic implementation yet. These limitations in coordination, collaboration and partnership among multi-stakeholders result in little involvement in policy formulation and implementation at the sub-national and national level and lead to a lack of productivity, complicated processes, and delayed public service delivery to business actors, especially young women micro-entrepreneurs and their organizations and networks.

API, CPDD and IDEA together with Pact delivered 3-days “Basic Advocacy/Mobilizing Support (MS ) Training, 3-days “Advanced Advocacy Skills” and another  2-days the “Advocacy Planning Workshop” to 13 PACT’s We Act partner organizations. The trainings/workshop are aimed at increasing the knowledge and skills for effective policy advocacy strategies in their organization and networks at both local and national levels.

After the two 3-day trainings, We Act Partners are enable to address the challenges and issues of informal economic and entrepreneurship in Cambodia. We Act partners have discussed, identified the priority issues, prepare and develop the advocacy plan for their organizations/networks. At the end of 2-day workshop, the participants from Pact’s We Act partners are able be to: discuss and agree on a format, structure and contents for advocacy plan that they can develop and implement within their resources and capacities, Identify, discuss and agree on key advocacy issues and target audiences that need to be addressed in the short-term and long term; and produce advocacy plan for Pact’s We Act partners with common goals, objectives, strategies, results and key activities for the short-term and long-term plans for individual organization and joint advocacy plan on same thematic. The advocacy plans will be finalized and rolled-out for jointly-advocacy movements to mobilize and support youth leaders & young women entrepreneurs to engage in advocacy action and influence policies.
