Background
The Neak Poan Organization for development (NPOD) is non-governmental and neutral organization in Kampong Cham province established by a group of Cambodian community skill based people and registered with Ministry of Interior on 03 of December 2009.The people in the rural and remote area lack the knowledge and skill on community leadership, management, and development. Some of them do not have sufficient land area and are not knowledgeable about crop farming techniques. Low incomes, which are mostly generated from natural and agriculture-base, make them vulnerable to the violation or exploitation migration. For these reasons, a group of people who has long view and experience on community development see the need to help them strengthen democracy, human rights, good governance, and decentralization by training on these topics. Their understanding of these concepts and of their role in the development process would enable them to raise issues of concerns and their needs with local public servants such as village chiefs, communal councils, and other government officials in charge in order to improve public service for the benefit the community. Through these efforts, the need for economic welfare and social equality would be addressed, and thereby improving the community livelihood and standard of living.
Vision
NOD wants to see all Cambodian citizens live in a society with proper economic welfare, social equality, and mutual respect; and that they are able to participate in the decision making process in community development and leadership in a society with accountability, transparency, and good governance.
Mission
To cooperate with relevant organizations and institutions to help develop communities through partnership to address issues and concerns of the community and to enable them to become responsible citizens in their society.
