Thursday morning, 3 July 2025, at the Kampong Speu Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries
The Coalition for Partnership in Democratic Development (CPDD) met with and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kampong Speu Provincial Department of Agriculture. The meeting was attended by 14 participants, including representatives from the Department of Agriculture, the CPDD Secretariat, and the Cambodian Women’s Development Association (CWDA), including 1 woman.
Objectives of the meeting and signing ceremony: (1) To establish strategic collaboration between project leaders and implementers with provincial government institutions, particularly the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, to support sustainable agricultural development using Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) technology, and to clarify the roles and responsibilities of each party in project implementation.(2) To provide information about the project “Carbon Credit through Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) Technology” to farmers, in order to increase awareness and participation in the target areas, promote adoption of new sustainable agricultural technologies, and enable farmers to earn benefits from carbon credits.(3) To assess the status of irrigation systems in the target areas to inform project implementation and potential expansion of AWD technology, and to discuss with relevant authorities and institutions the effectiveness of the irrigation systems in these areas.
In line with the objectives and spirit of the meeting, the Kampong Speu Provincial Department of Agriculture agreed to sign the MOU with the Coalition for Partnership in Democratic Development (CPDD) to implement the project in Kampong Speu Province.
