On December 24, 2024, a representative from CPDD participated in the Project Reflection Workshop for the "Strengthening Transparency and Accountability in Local Governance through Civic Engagement (STA)" project, which was funded by the Embassy of Japan through UNDP and granted by CPDD. The event, held in Krong Kampong Cham, brought together key stakeholders from various sectors to assess the progress of the project and discuss its impact on local governance.
The workshop attracted a total of 97 participants, including provincial and municipal governors, civil society organizations (CSOs), youth representatives, and community leaders, with 52 women among the attendees. This diverse group of individuals provided valuable perspectives on the project's achievements and challenges, ensuring that all voices were heard during the discussions.
The primary focus of the workshop was to assess the effectiveness of the STA project in promoting transparency and accountability within local governance structures. By examining the implementation of the project over the past year and seven months, the event sought to identify best practices that could be replicated or expanded in future initiatives. Through collaborative dialogue, participants reviewed the outcomes of various project activities and shared insights into how these efforts had contributed to strengthening the relationship between local governments and the communities they serve.
Another key objective of the workshop was to gather lessons learned from the project’s execution, enabling stakeholders to better understand the barriers and opportunities encountered throughout its implementation. These lessons are critical for refining strategies and improving future projects aimed at enhancing civic engagement and governance transparency at the local level.
A significant portion of the workshop also focused on the sustainability of the STA project, with discussions centered on how to ensure the continuity of its objectives and outcomes after the official conclusion of the project. By engaging stakeholders in the development of a sustainability plan, the workshop sought to create a roadmap for long-term success, ensuring that the positive changes initiated by the project can be maintained and built upon.
