Background
Action for Health Development (AHEAD) was founded in 2006, Action for Health Development was officially registered and recognized by the local authorities (commune, district and provincial governor) and the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in November 2006. AHEAD is a local health NGO transformed from the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Community Based Primary Health Program. AHEAD is an development organization which assists people on the basis of need, regardless of race, age, sex or religion through working with government and community partners to improve the quality, accessibility, availability and sustainability of the community based primary health care projects and other health interventions. Its mission is to support, strengthen and empower the communities, community structures and health providers to develop capacity and skills on health issues and self management to address their own problems.

Mission
Action for Health Development's mission is to work toward improving the quality of health and life of the Cambodian people regardless of race, age, sex, or religion through working with government and community partners to improve the quality, accessibility, availability and sustainability of Community Based Primary Health Care and other health interventions. Action for Health Development will strengthen and empower communities, community structures and health providers to develop capacity and skills on health issues and self management to address their own problems. Communities will be enabled to develop, plan and carry out health activities which will benefit all but focus on the poor and vulnerable people in the communities. Action for Health Development's approaches will be linked with Government, communities and other NGOs to promote dignity, peace, justice, solidarity, transparency, good governance, accountability, good stewardship, efficiency and self reliance for all. Action for Health Development is a learning organization gaining knowledge and skills from its experiences with the community, health service and NGO partners.
